BendEdit Desktop - Backup System
At the center of BendEdit’s backup system is a backup folder with a Backup of all Programs and Machine data. The following functionality is available:
- Programs (1) and Machine Data (2) can be restored separately from the Backup.
- The Backup can be overridden with the current working data (3).
- The Backup can be overridden with standard data that comes with BendEdit (4).
- The Backup can be overridden with data from BendEdit Data Files (5). BendEdit Data Files have the filename extension “.bed” and contain all Programs and Machine Data for a particular machine.
- The Backup can be exported to a new BendEdit Data File (6). This file can then be stored elsewhere, shared or used to create new machines.
All these actions are available in Settings > General > Machine:
- “Restore Programs…” restores the Programs from the Backup. This overrides the Programs that are currently part of the working data.
- “Restore Machine…” restores Machine Data from the Backup. This overrides the Machine Data that is currently part of the working data.
- “Backup current Data…” overrides the Backup with the current working data.
- “Override Backup…” overrides the Backup with the standard dataset selected from the drop-down menu. BendEdit comes with several standard datasets.
- Alternatively, the Backup can also be overridden with data from a BendEdit Data File. This option can be found in the drop-down menu:

“Override Backup…” then uses the data from the selected file. - “Export Backup…” allows for the Backup to be exported to a BendEdit Data File. This file can be saved anywhere on disk.
